"Culture is, first of all, the expression of a nation, their preferences, their taboos, their models" - Franz Tanon.
The Cultural or historical tourism is a type of tourism that emphasizes those cultural aspects that offer a specific destination, whether a small town, a city, a region or a country. In recent years it has gained some relevance in areas where sun and beach, sports, etc have been limited.
This type of tourism requires historical and artistic resources for development. It is more demanding and less seasonal.
Cultural tourism is considered part of the group Alternative tourism. In Cultural tourism tourists are concentrated in the culture of the places they go, for example: seeing museums or seeing things built many years before.
Cultural tourism also includes cultural events such as festivals, concerts, carnivals. In our case, we include the Blacks and Whites' Carnival in the city of San Juan de Pasto, declared intangible cultural heritage.
