Animals are the most beautiful of the species created, they give everything without asking anything in return ...
Whale watching is the practice of observing whales and other cetaceans in their natural habitat. Cetaceans are more commonly observed with recreational purposes (similar to bird watching) but the activity can also be for scientific purposes or educational reasons.
Every year between June and November, humpback whales come to the Colombian Pacific coast to mate and give birth. They can be seen in Bahia Malaga, Gorgona Island, the coast of Nariño and the Utría Cove.
On the coasts of Ecuador they can be found in the provinces of Manabi, more exactly in Puerto Lopez and near the island of La Plata.
Humpback whales, sometimes known as "Yubarta", can be seen arriving near the island of Bocagrande, in Tumaco Nariño. Year after year these mammals choose this route to fulfil its gestation cycle.
It is recommended not to follow these groups of animals as they require peacefulness while mating or suckling their young, so a safe distance should be kept, at least 400 meters parallel to its route, for observation.
