At 20 kilometres from the city of Pasto, find this beautiful lake located at 2,280 meters above sea level, a large natural reservoir, whose waters are of glacial origin, it has a small island called "National Park Corota Island" where native wildlife is preserved and where the shrine of the Virgin of Lourdes is found, which make this island not only a tourism but religious pilgrimage site.
It is ideal for eco-tourism, it has about 52 natural reserves, and therefore this ecosystem is considered a beautiful wetland of international importance, found in the global Ramsar Convention.
Its inhabitants, descendants of the indigenous Quillacingas, who consider this lake as a sacred place, legend says that the Cocha lake originated by the curse that the chief Pucara did to his wife and her lover, who drank water from a gourd, becoming the Corota and the water contained in the lagoon.
The lagoon is considered as "haven of peace and tranquility, energy center and purity" because the environment there has a strong positive energy that renews and restores.
